Each piece of equipment is an individual record in Renttix. Bookings are made against specific items. Availability is calculated per item, per date — not per category estimate.

Set a buffer window between rental end and the next available start date. Allows time for inspection, cleaning, and minor repairs without risking a direct re-rental.
Cross-depot availability search
For businesses with multiple locations, availability is searchable across all depots simultaneously. If a customer needs equipment on a specific date, you can see which depot has it available — or whether a transfer is needed.
Service and maintenance blocking
When equipment is taken out of service for maintenance, those dates are blocked in the availability calendar. The item cannot be booked for rental during service.

Availability calendar questions
Can I see availability for all items at once, or only item by item?
Both. The availability calendar has a fleet view showing all items across a date range, and an item-specific view for drilling into individual equipment records. You can filter by category, depot, or availability status.
What happens to availability when a rental is extended?
When a rental end date is extended, the availability for that item is updated automatically. Any inquiries for that item on the new dates will show it as unavailable.
How does buffer time work?
Buffer time is configurable per item category or individually. If a rental ends on Friday and you set a 1-day buffer, the item shows as unavailable on Saturday and available from Sunday. This gives you inspection and preparation time.
Can customers see availability themselves?
Customer-facing availability is available via the Renttix API for teams that want to build a booking portal or embed a quote widget into their own website.
