Renttix Calendar Feeds

Subscribe to your upcoming deliveries and collections from Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar through a standard iCal feed — so the schedule appears alongside everything else your team already tracks.

Subscribe once and see the schedule in the calendar you already use.

A sample hire: the customer and figures are made up. The statuses and screens are Renttix’s own.

How it connects

Renttix publishes an RFC 5545 iCalendar feed of your upcoming dispatch jobs. You copy the generated feed URL once and subscribe to it from Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or any application that speaks iCal. The calendar application refreshes it on its own schedule from then on.

Be clear about what this is: a one-way subscription, not a two-way sync. Renttix publishes the schedule and your calendar reads it. Editing an event in your calendar does not change anything in Renttix — the operational record stays in one place, which is deliberate.

Each feed URL contains its own token, and there is a rotate action that invalidates the old URL and issues a new one. That is what to use when someone leaves or a URL has been shared more widely than intended, since anyone holding the URL can read the feed.

Why it matters

Most of the people who need to know what is happening tomorrow do not need a login to your rental system. A depot manager, a yard supervisor, an owner glancing at the week — they need visibility, not an account and a password to forget.

A calendar subscription gives exactly that, in the application they already have open. It costs no licence, requires no training, and puts the day's deliveries next to the meetings and the MOT dates already in their diary. And because it is read-only, wider visibility carries no risk of somebody accidentally rescheduling a delivery from their phone.

Key workflows

  • Subscribe from any calendar app

Copy the feed URL once into Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. Upcoming deliveries and collections appear alongside existing commitments and refresh automatically.

  • Read-only by design

The feed publishes the schedule; it does not accept changes back. Nobody can move a delivery by dragging an event in their diary, so the operational record stays authoritative.

  • Rotate a leaked URL

Each feed URL carries its own token and can be rotated on demand, invalidating the old link — the right response when someone leaves or a URL has been forwarded too widely.

Calendar feeds are the lightest way to get Renttix scheduling in front of people who do not work in the system all day. For those who do, the dispatch board, the customer portal and the Renttix Field app carry the same jobs with full detail and the ability to act on them.

Calendar feed FAQ

Is this a two-way sync with Google Calendar or Outlook?

No, and deliberately so. It is a one-way iCal subscription: Renttix publishes the schedule and your calendar reads it. Changes made in your calendar application do not flow back, so the operational record stays authoritative in one place.

Who can see the feed?

Anyone holding the URL, since calendar applications subscribe without signing in. Treat it as a secret, and use the rotate action to invalidate a URL that has been shared too widely or when someone leaves.

Which calendar applications work?

Any that support iCal subscriptions — Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar included. The feed follows the RFC 5545 standard rather than a vendor-specific format.
