How it connects
Renttix connects to the MYOB Business Platform API using MYOB's OAuth flow. You are redirected to MYOB to approve access to your company file, MYOB returns an authorisation code, and Renttix exchanges it for access and refresh tokens. The refresh token keeps the connection alive so you are not reauthorising every session. Access is scoped to the company file you approve, which matters if you run several. Renttix works against the file you nominated and nothing else, and the authorisation can be revoked from MYOB at any time.
Why it matters
MYOB is deeply established across Australia and New Zealand, and for many hire businesses the accountant's preference settles the question. What that usually means in practice is that the rental system and the accounting system never speak, and someone re-keys invoices every week. That manual bridge is where hire businesses lose visibility. Invoice volume in rental is high and continuous — a running hire bills again every cycle — so any lag between the yard and the ledger compounds rather than settles. Connecting the two removes the re-keying and, with it, the drift between what you think you have invoiced and what you actually have.
Key workflows
Post hire invoices to MYOB
Invoices raised in Renttix reach your MYOB company file without re-keying, so the ledger reflects hire activity as it happens rather than after a weekly catch-up.
Company-file scoped access
Authorisation is granted against the specific company file you approve during connection, so a business running several files does not risk postings landing in the wrong one.
Self-maintaining authorisation
Renttix exchanges MYOB's authorisation code for access and refresh tokens and renews them automatically, so the connection persists without anyone reauthorising it regularly.
MYOB is the Australia and New Zealand option among the seven accounting connections in Renttix, alongside Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho, ABSS and Tally. It sits on the same invoice and customer plumbing as the others.
MYOB integration FAQ
The MYOB Business Platform API. You authorise Renttix against a specific company file through MYOB's standard OAuth flow, and can revoke that authorisation from MYOB whenever you choose.
No. Access is scoped to the company file you approve during connection, so postings go to that file and not to others in your account.
No. Renttix holds a refresh token and renews access automatically, so the connection keeps working without periodic reauthorisation.
